Jaycee Turned Two!!!!

This past weekend, we celebrated Jaycee's 2nd birthday.  We had several and friends over to have cake and watch Jaycee (or me) open presents.  It was a great time and just a very relaxed and fun time to celebrate her two years with us.

I can hardly believe that this tiny baby girl is now...

...this grown up two year old and has lots of personality to go with it.

Jaycee's birthday message from Tom and me.
You can file this one under projects that I have done recently.  More on that later.

This is our little family on Jaycee's big day.

This year I had so many ideas that I could do for her birthday.  Among the many were a jayhawk party, an alphabet party, and superwhy which is a cartoon that she pays attention to most of the time.  I debated and went back and forth between so many ideas, but realized that if I did any one of those party ideas she would be absolutely crazy the whole day.  She especially gets really excited when she sees a jayhawk or kockkock as she likes to call it.  We decided to do just a rainbow theme and lots of colors.  Once I made up my mind what to do that would cause the least amount of crazy excitement, I had a lot of fun looking for ideas online.  One idea that I got was to make a layered rainbow cake.  Anyone who knows me, knows that I have fun making her cakes.  It is a fun hobby that I like to do especially when it turns out.  That was the main part of my idea for a rainbow party and it just took off from there.

Here is the table before I put the cake on there.
We had rainbow skittles, rainbow koolaid, and rainbow straws for the kids.

First we started with opening presents.
Jaycee was very interested in opening the cards and not the presents.

It was a family event, Tom helped us by writing down what she got so we can make thank yous later.

She had a hard time opening things herself, but she anxiously waited while I helped her.

Rainbow Cake
This was a lot of fun to make.

Jaycee didn't get the concept of blowing out candles.
I helped her a little.

Birthday girl eating her HUGE piece of cake.
We had so much that I sent some home with a few people.

Jaycee and Gavin one of her friends.

Trying out her new toys.
This was a vacuum that we got her.
Yes, it is pink.  I have gotten over my anti-pink phase. You kind of have to when you have a girl.

This is the cake after we cut several slices out of it.
I think each slice was enough for at least two if not more people.

Playing with more of her new toys.
This is a grocery cart and groceries that she loves to stack them on the box it came in.

Mollie tried to help her with this.

Later that day we went to the mall to just get out of the house for a while.
She rode in one of those cars that you pay a couple quarters for.

Another view of the cute pink car.
Yea, we have had to get used to pink, but it still isn't my favorite color, but we will adapt.

Overall it was a great day.  We saw lots of family that we haven't seen in a while, and we had a lot of fun celebrating Jaycee.  She is growing up so fast that it is hard to keep up with the new things that she is learning and doing.  There were a lot of things that we did for this party that we made and I can fill you in on those things in another post about the projects that we have done lately.
